OpenSutra Currently the published fascicles of this text have been organized under “Yongle Northern Canon / Hinayana Vinaya”; image sources and catalog numbers are listed separately in each fascicle record. It can first be understood within a vinaya literature system, with emphasis typically on precepts, monastic organization and practice regulations. Vinaya literature records not only precepts but also preserves materials on institutions, rituals and the circumstances of vinaya formulation. Here the readable fascicles of the Root Vinaya of the Sarvāstivāda (50 fascicles) are gathered in original catalog order, suitable for consulting by fascicle number, catalog number, thousand-character folio number or title. Missing fascicles: the catalog of this work contains 50 fascicles; currently 3 fascicles have not been published due to missing source images.
