In Chinese Buddhism, the Diamond Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra was not only explained as a doctrinal scripture, but also commonly incorporated into liturgical recitation, repentance rites, memorial services for the deceased, prayers for blessings, and formal Buddhist assemblies. The Xiaoshi Jingang Keyi is attributed to the Song monk Zongjing. The term “xiaoshi” in the title may be understood as referring simultaneously to the elimination of karmic obstacles, the explanation of scriptural meaning, and ritual procedures for assemblies, while “keyi” refers to structured liturgical texts such as ceremonial sequences, hymns of praise, invocations, repentance, and dedication of merit. This edition is valuable for the study of Diamond Sūtra devotion, repentance and Buddhist ritual services, monastic liturgies, and popular recitation traditions after the Song dynasty, and also helps illuminate how scriptural texts were transformed into practical cultivation and public religious activities.
